The American Veterinary Medical Association (AMVA) acknowledges that the human-animal bond has existed for thousands of years and defines it as “a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between people and animals that is influenced by behaviours that are essential to the health and well-being of both. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional, psychological, and physical interactions of people, animals, and the environment” (2014).
OUR OFFERING
Animal Assisted Educator teams have many proven benefits such as improved communication and interpersonal skills, reduced loneliness and anxiety, improved self-esteem, motivation and purpose. They also support motor development, strength and balance.
Melita will visit your workplace to undertake a thorough risk assessment before any sessions are conducted. With Melita's extensive experience in teaching, particularly in special education, you can be assurred that any risks will be minimised and you will have a positive and joyful experience.
The most important discipline we teach our dogs, is love. We want every dog to know how much they are loved and that they can commit to and trust their handler. The client and dog relationship must be symbiotic for it to be productive and beneficial. Be prepared for unconditional love.
